FAQ

Our clients aren't experts in design jargon or web technology. If they were, why would they pay us? But we feel it's important to educate as part of the designer / client relationship. With that in mind, here are the answers to some common questions that first-time website owners often ask:

  • How long will it take to design my website?
Every project has its own unique goals, and every client has their own schedule, so completion time will vary. Since we work closely with our clients, the speed of their feedback usually determines the timeframe of the project. But for a starter-sized website (5 pages), turnaround time is 3-4 weeks.

  • How much will the whole thing cost?
Each project is priced according to the scope of the site and elements involved. For example, a complete Flash website or one with dynamic features will cost more than one developed entirely in HTML. Most smaller projects are quoted at a flat rate, while larger ones will be billed hourly. When we deliver your project proposal, you will be made aware of all costs upfront, so there will be no surprises.

  • Who will update the site once it's been launched?
You can, if you like. All site files will be delivered to you on CD upon completion for your archives. But if you choose to leave it in the hands of a professional, contract us for maintenance or webmaster services, and we'll be happy to update your site for you.

  • Can I change my website while it is being designed?
Of course. You are an integral part of the design process. Every major phase of your project will require your approval before we continue, so you will always be aware of what's happening, and given the opportunity to ask for revisions. Once your website project is completed and the site is launched, additional revisions will be billed at an hourly rate.

  • Do I need a domain name?
Yes. And depending on your business, you may want more than one. It should be intuitive, memorable, and distinct. As an authorized domain reseller, we can register and maintain your domains for you.

  • What is web hosting? why do I need it?
A web host is a server (powerful computer) that makes your website accessible through the Internet. Your hosting plan should provide a set amount of disk space (room your site files take up on the server), traffic (amount of data passed to / from the site as people access the site) and mailboxes (you@yourwebsite.com). As an authorized web hosting reseller, we can set up and maintain your hosting account for you.

  • What does it take to set up an e-Commerce website?
Most commerce sites require three things - a shopping cart, a credit card processor, and a business bank account. Merchant accounts require setup fees, monthly minimum fees, and a percentage of each transaction. Web-oriented merchant services like PayPal are cheaper to set up, but take a larger percentage and require buyers to set up an account in order to make purchases. Other options, like print or email order forms, are better for those who accept custom orders. We can help you choose the option that's best for your business.

  • How do I get my information to you?
Primarily, we can do all of our business via email, the web, telephone, and by FedEx or the USPS. We'd love to meet you in person, but unless you insist, it's not necessary.
